My Day in Mobile AL
Mobile, Alabama is one of the best-kept secrets out there, and one of my favorite places for a fun getaway. Our most recent family trip to Mobile led us to the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center one day because it was raining heavily. Located in the downtown area, the center is chock-full of great things to do for kids. There are many learning opportunities for interactive learning and hands-on demonstrations for kids and adults alike. My favorite exhibit was the My BodyWorks exhibit, where we jumped into some interactive learning about health and nutrition, among other things.
Another can’t-miss stop in Mobile is the causeway that crosses Mobile Bay. It’s a fun, scenic drive on the elevated interstate from Mobile to Spanish Fort, but my favorite part of the causeway is the restaurants. Some of the best Gulf seafood can be had at any of the eateries along the causeway, especially at my personal favorite, Felix’s Fish Camp. If you love Gulf seafood, you absolutely cannot pass on devouring the freshly-caught shrimp and oysters. The scenery from nearly all the causeway restaurants is breathtaking, as well.
Finally, make sure to head to Dauphin Island to shop the charming stores and to sit in the rolling surf along the beaches.
